How did such a unique symphony of scents come to be?

For founder Marla Stough, a lifetime of leadership and creativity led her here.

It started as a phone call from her mom who, in the midst of planning a family get-together, divulged, “Marla, I always think of you as the man of the house. You always know what to do. You're very proactive, always jumping in to help or handle something.” Marla felt seen, recognizing the honor derived from being someone who people rely on for support, comfort, and guidance.

She realized that this is what being an Eldest Daughter is all about. It’s a title she wears with love, and in Marla’s family, love has a scent. The sweet almond biscotti cookies baked at Christmas, the earthy bales of hay resting on her family farm, and the treasured perfumes spritzed by women across generations, lingering in the air after a hug as a trace of the embrace.

So as a love letter to the Eldest Daughter archetype (you don’t have to be one to embody it), Marla endeavored to create an indie fragrance line.

With a prolific background of working as a creative in the beauty industry for over 20 years, the second half of which as an Art Director and Creative Director, Marla is doing it on her own terms. She earned an Advanced Perfumery Certificate from the Pratt Institute and harnessed all her Eldest Daughter qualities to bring her passion for delectable fragrances into reality.

How It’s Made: Our Commitment to Clean
Every Eldest Daughter scent is composed with care. Hand-blended in small batches in the U.S. our scent veil body sprays and candles come from a woman-own certified B-Corp partnering manufacturer.

Luxury should never come at the expense of what you breathe, wear, or bring into your home, so each candle and home and body mist is made with intention.

Scent Veil Body Sprays
Each Scent Veil fragrance comes hand-blended in a gentle, water-based formula. It is alcohol-free, paraben-free, and VOC-free, with no dyes or unnecessary additives, making it soft enough for skin and refined enough for your home. Mist it on your wrists, bedding, or the air around you.

Candles
Our candles are hand-poured in coconut and soy wax, scented with a clean, phthalate-free fragrance and finished with a cotton wick. They’re made without dyes and additives, only wax, wick, and scent, letting the fragrance speak for itself.
